2023 AuSI International Fellows

In 2023, AuSI sponsored five International Fellows from a range of Academic Colleges and disciplines, including national security law, political and cultural history, development studies, creative writing, and international law. Read what some of last years fellows have to say about the program below, and find more information about their projects here.

“Austin is a leading centre for the study of national security, and I therefore had unrivalled opportunities for engaging with colleagues working across areas close to my own interests. Academics at UT Austin conduct ground-breaking empirical research on global compliance with financial crime standards, withdrawal of companies from sanctioned jurisdictions, and humanitarian exemptions to sanctions programs, to name but a few topics of interest. It was fantastic to establish contact, and there will no doubt be opportunities for future collaboration."

- Dr Anton Moiseienko, AuSI 2023 International Visiting Fellow

I was privileged to be affiliated to King's College, where I was hosted by the Menzies Institute by its wonderful Director Dr Agniezska Sobocinska. During my time there, School of History colleague Professor Frank Bongiorno delivered the Menzies Lecture on "Australia: A New Political Geography?" and the Institute celebrated its 40th anniversary. The lecture and dinner were a highlight, with excellent conversation. I also had a chance to interact with other historians at Kings and explored possibilities for future collaboration.”

- Dr Aditya Balasubramanian, AuSI 2023 International Visiting Fellow
