AuSI COVID-19 Update and your AuSI Virtual Bookshelf

Dear friends and colleagues,

2020 continues to be a year of many challenges, with the spread of COVID-19 continuing to impact the global community.

While public events and conferences are on hold worldwide, here at AuSI we are now more than ever committed to facilitating and joining national and global conversations. We wanted to let you know that we are still open for business and will continue to promote the study of Australia.

To help us all stay in touch whilst practicing social distancing, we will keep circulating Australian Studies resources, news and research through our e-bulletins and social media channels.

For those who might have more time on their hands to read or are experiencing self-isolation, we will be introducing a new section in our e-bulletin that rounds-up the best books, articles, and podcasts on Australian Studies.

We welcome your recommendations and reviews so we can continue to virtually share our passion for Australian Studies.

This fortnight on the AuSI virtual bookshelf we are enjoying the new episodes of Democracy Sausage with Mark Kenny, and a number of new and wide-ranging Australian Studies titles from ANU academics including a book on monsters from Indigenous Australia and on Australia's fertility in 19th-century Tasmania. We also encourage you to pause for a few minutes and complete the Australian Mateship Survey to support AuSI Foundation Fellow Dr Benjamin Jones.
