Guanrong Ren is a Master of Information Technology (Cyber Security) student at Adelaide University. He completed his Bachelor of Information Technology (Network Security) at Melbourne Polytechnic, where he was awarded the Recognition of Excellence in Transnational Studies Scholarship and named Outstanding Student of the Year. He also brings 1.5 years of professional experience as a Software Test Engineer in Hangzhou, specialising in security validation and vulnerability assessment.
Originally from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, Guanrong has lived and studied across both countries. As a Student Representative on the Higher Education Course Committee, he worked to ensure diverse student voices, particularly those of international students, were heard in academic decision-making.
His interests lie at the intersection of cybersecurity, AI ethics, and bilateral technology policy. He believes the greatest risk in the Australia-China technology relationship is not a technical gap but a deficit of mutual understanding, and hopes to help bridge it.
Outside his studies, Guanrong is an avid reader and writer, drawn particularly to translation between Chinese and English and to writing that bridges technology and the humanities.
