Huachen Yang is a Master of Actuarial Studies student at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where he also completed his undergraduate degree in actuarial science. He has applied actuarial and analytical techniques to a range of real-world problems, including reinsurance strategy optimization and heart disease prediction using deep learning. Huachen is proficient in tools such as R, Python, Excel, and PostgreSQL, which he uses for statistical modeling, risk analysis, and data-driven decision-making.

In 2023, he completed a marketing internship at WinCareer, where he developed a customer screening system and contributed to a successful campaign that generated over $4,000 in new revenue.

Originally from Henan, China, a province known for its rich history and cultural heritage, Huachen is passionate about actuarial science and is a current General Member of the Actuaries Institute. He is actively working toward achieving Fellowship certification and aims to build a career in the insurance industry, focusing on roles that apply actuarial expertise to improve financial resilience and manage long-term risk. Outside of academics, he enjoys snowboarding and is always eager to take on new challenges that combine data, strategy, and real-world impact.
