Jiatong Tian is currently pursuing a Master of Occupational Therapy at the University of Canberra, building on a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania. Originally from Beijing, China, Jiatong brings a global perspective shaped by living, studying, and working across China, Italy, the United States, and Australia. Her diverse professional background spans education, creative industries, and community leadership.
As a future occupational therapist, Jiatong is committed to culturally responsive, person-centred care. She is particularly interested in exploring how creativity and the arts can be integrated with healthcare to support wellbeing, occupational participation, and connection, while recognising the social and cultural contexts in which people live. She believes that effective practice requires an understanding of the broader social, cultural, and policy frameworks that shape our communities.
As a Stephen FitzGerald Scholar, Jiatong looks forward to deepening her understanding of Australia’s national institutions and the diverse foundations of Australian society. She hopes to bring together her international experiences and professional interests to contribute to meaningful, long-term collaboration between Australia and China in health, arts, and community wellbeing.
