Xinyang (Rachel) Guo was born and raised in southwestern China. She first came to Australia in 2018 to study veterinary medicine. Since then, she has had opportunities to conduct research, manage educational NGO programs, and provide Chinese-English translation and interpreting services for professional communications.
Being passionate about a sustainable and kinder future, Xinyang (Rachel) has dedicated her previous efforts to raise awareness on animal welfare, environmental issues, and human impacts on ecosystems through education programs engaging industries, professionals, governments, and the public. She is also a strong advocate for evidence-based policymaking, and an active participant in cross-cultural communication by bridging language barriers, mutual respect, deeper understanding, and through accurate, culturally sensitive interpreting and translations.
After discovering her interests in cultures, languages and history, Xinyang (Rachel) decided to further pursue translation studies and interpreting. As a recent graduate of the Translation Studies Program at The University of Western Australia, specialising in the Chinese Translation and Chinese Interpreting streams, Xinyang (Rachel) seeks opportunities to further develop her leadership skills, strengthen community ties, and build intercultural relationships through collaboration, leveraging her Asian heritage and language skills to facilitate meaningful connections between Australia and broader Asian communities.
