Xinyueran (Katherine) Tong is from Xi’an, Shaanxi, China, a city renowned for its rich history and cultural heritage. Xinyueran (Katherine) is currently completing an Honours degree in Pharmaceutical Science at Monash University, where her research focuses on neural-cancer interactions in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Passionate about oncology research, Xinyueran (Katherine) hopes to pursue a PhD and contribute to advancing our understanding of cancer and improving patient outcomes.
Xinyueran (Katherine) previously served as President of the Parkville International Student Association, where she supported students from diverse backgrounds, promoted cultural understanding, and fostered a welcoming and inclusive campus environment.
Beyond her studies, Xinyueran (Katherine) enjoys travelling and exploring different cultures and languages. She values learning from people with diverse perspectives and believes that cross-cultural experiences have broadened her perspective on the world and strengthened her appreciation for meaningful connections across communities.
