I am Yuxiao Zhang, an Honors student at the University of Tasmania, currently studying Marine and Antarctica Science. Simultaneously, I am an undergraduate student at the Ocean University of China. My major is the collaboration of these two Universities and this arrangement has afforded me the unique experience of university life in both China and Australia. I am deeply passionate about my major. Considering the ocean covers over 70% of the Earth's surface, there is much to explore and understand. At UTAS, I am privileged to have access to superior platforms and educational resources that enable me to delve into oceanic and Antarctic studies. My honours project I am working on is detecting the Subtropical Front from Space. This front is located on the Southern Ocean of Australia and has great impacts in oceanography, fishery, and ecosystem. In last summer, I also participated in a scholarship program held by ARC Clex focusing on the relationship of multi-year La Nina and Madden Julian Oscillation. Gaining insights into this would help to predict the extreme rainfall in Northern Australia. I am looking forward to further participation and communication, and I am deeply thankful for such opportunities.
