Call for Papers

As an annual academic event hosted by the Chinese Association for Australian Studies (CASS), this conference is dedicated to enhancing mutual understanding, friendship and trust between China and Australia, and to consolidating and deepening the China-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The International Conference of Australian Studies in China has established itself as a highly influential academic gathering within the Australian studies communities of both China and the wider world. The 22nd conference is scheduled to take place at Nantong University from October 23 to 25, 2026.

China and Australia have long enjoyed a solid foundation for cultural exchanges and broad prospects for cooperation in the humanities field. Under the theme of “Antipodean Affinities: Australian Studies for Civilizational Mutual Learning”, the 22nd Conference aims to further deepen academic exchanges and practical cooperation between the two countries in the humanities, so as to facilitate the building of a shared future.

Sub-themes of the Conference (including but not limited to):

1. Paradigm Reconstruction and Theoretical Innovation in Australian Studies

2. Current Status and Prospects of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Between China and Australia

3. Comparative Studies on National Governance and Social Development

4. Translation and Circulation of Chinese and Australian Humanistic Classics

5. Chinese-Australian Literary Writings and Cross-Cultural Empathy

6. Economic and Trade Cooperation and the Asia-Pacific Economic Order

7. Cooperation in Ecological Civilization and Green Development

8. Media Narratives and National Images

9. International Education Cooperation and Civilizational Mutual Learning

10. Mutual Appreciation of Art and Comparative Aesthetics

Submission of Registration Form

Participants are requested to send the completed registration form to the conference's email address (asc2026_ntu[at]163.com) by 30 August 2026. The subject of the email should be uniformly named as “The 22nd Annual Conference on Australian Studies + Participant’s Name + Affiliation”. The working languages of the conference are Chinese and English. Participants who intend to present papers in Chinese are required to provide English titles and abstracts simultaneously.

Conference Agenda

23 October (Friday): arrival and registration; 24-25 October (Saturday & Sunday): conference sessions

Conference Fees and Accommodation

Conference Fee: The conference fee is RMB 1,000 per person. Postgraduates with valid student IDs can enjoy a 50% discount (RMB 500 per person). 

Conference venue: Seyuan Campus, Nantong University (Address: No.9 Seyuan Road, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, China) 

Transportation and Accommodation: Participants shall bear their own round-trip transportation costs and accommodation expenses. The conference organizing committee will recommend partner hotels around Nantong University with preferential agreement prices.
