About
The Australian foreign policy studies forum gathers scholars with expertise and interest in Australian foreign policy to appraise the current state of the field and to help shape a collective vision of its future.
The forum coincides with the appointment of Professor Valerie M Hudson as the inaugural Vice-Chancellor’s "Australia in the World" visiting fellow at The Australian National University (ANU). A leading figure in the subfield of Foreign Policy Analysis (FPA), Professor Hudson will co-chair the Forum, commenting on the state of FPA in Australia and helping to situate the research and teaching activities of the Australia-based participants in a global context.
More than just an exercise in “looking in” and assessing scholarly trends, the forum will also consciously “look out”, first by exploring the state of connections between the academy and the broader Australian foreign policy community and then by discussing the steps that are required to reinvigorate Australian foreign policy studies.
The forum will be followed by canapes and a public lecture, "Towards reinvigorating Australian foreign policy studies", featuring Professor Valerie M Hudson, Mark Kenny and Professor Jacqui True. Canapes commence at 5pm outside the Molonglo Theatre in the JG Crawford Building, where the lecture will take place from 5.30-7pm. If you would like to attend the lecture, register here.
