ICASC Highlights: ANU Announces 'Australia and the World' Research Excellence Program
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shirley Leitch, and AuSI Director, Professor Paul Pickering, announced the 'Australia and the World' Research Excellence Program at the International Conference on Australian Studies in China last week.
This exciting new program will be hosted by ANU in August 2019. The inaugural program will be open exclusively to early and mid-career researchers in China.
"At ANU, we’ve become acutely aware of the importance of encouraging the study of Australia, not only within our own walls but by encouraging and supporting those studying Australia abroad," Professor Leitch said at the opening reception of ICASC. "Over the past several decades, China has developed a strong and engaged network of Australian Studies Centres and independent scholars, as is attested by those present today. Today, China contributes more to Australian scholarship than at any other time in history."
"One of the programs we have developed out of our recognition of our responsibility to the global community of Australian scholars is the ‘Australia and the World’ Research Excellence Program. The Research Excellence Program is envisioned to be a training hub for early and mid-career scholars around the world to grow from research excellence to research leadership."
