Chi Ho Walter (Jake) Hon is a Master of Renewable and Sustainable Energy candidate at Murdoch University, originally from Hong Kong SAR. He is combining a foundational background in physics with advanced knowledge of grid decarbonisation, industrial carbon policy, and clean energy economics. His research focuses on industrial carbon cost exposure in the aluminium industry, alongside a broader interest in the hydrogen economy and building energy performance standards such as NatHERS.
A trilingual (Cantonese, Mandarin, and English) Asia-Pacific project and infrastructure specialist with fifteen years of experience leading complex cross-border capital works, he built his career on strategic consensus-building across diverse international stakeholder networks. He spent over a decade managing development, procurement, and facilities portfolios for global brands, including Rolex and Richemont, before relocating to Western Australia in mid-2025 to pursue this transition into the clean energy sector.
A proven intercultural communicator and next-generation leader, he is drawn to the complementarity between Western Australia's world-class solar and critical mineral resources and China's leadership in photovoltaic and battery manufacturing. Leveraging deep professional networks across Hong Kong and mainland China, he aims to advance the Australia-China relationship through bilateral dialogue, collaborative clean energy infrastructure strategy, and joint sustainable development frameworks.
