Jinjian (Derek) Qiu is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Information Technology, specializing in Software Development, at Griffith University in Australia. Originally from Fuqing, Fujian, Derek has a background in Mechatronic Engineering and brings over four years of programming experience, with a strong focus on Python, JavaScript, and web development.
Throughout his studies, Derek has actively engaged in teaching roles at Griffith University, supporting courses in Mathematics for Computer Science and Software Technologies. He also interns at Cinefly, a media-tech company, contributing to cloud-based solutions and AI integration.Derek has achieved numerous accolades, including a Gold+ STEM Award and a first-place win in the Westpac Innovation and Coding Competition, as well as top placements in international programming contests.
Passionate about fostering innovation, Derek plans to pursue a career as a Full Stack Software Engineer, aiming to integrate AI and software development. His areas of interest include algorithm design, AI, and data visualization. He views the Stephen FitzGerald Scholars Program as an exciting opportunity to deepen his understanding of Australia-China relations and connect with future leaders.
