Qunyi Wang was born in Beijing, China, and is currently studying at the University of Queensland (UQ) as a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) student. Throughout Qunyi’s four-year study at UQ, she earned several awards and scholarships, including Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence, International Onshore Merit Scholarship (AUD 10,000), Widening Participation Grant for short-term study in South Korea (AUD 1,000), and Summer Research Program Scholarship (AUD 3,600). Her professional background encompasses academic research and teaching Chinese language. She worked as a summer research scholar and a research assistant at UQ and co-authored a research article regarding Chinese language textbooks in the Journal of Curriculum Studies. Her Honours thesis examines cultural values and ideologies in Chinese language textbooks used by Korean Chinese students. Also, she has gained 80 hours of Chinese teaching experience through private tutoring, working for Australia-China Youth Association (ACYA), and a teaching assistant role at a secondary college in Brisbane. Selecting Korean as a major, Qunyi is enthusiastic about acquiring a new language and culture and sharing the Chinese language and culture with a broader audience. She is pursuing a career in academic research on language textbooks and as a Chinese teacher promoting Chinese language education and cultural exchange.
