University of Western Australia

My name is Tianchen Zhang, and I am currently pursuing a master's degree in landscape architecture at the University of Western Australia. I previously completed my undergraduate studies in the same discipline. Born and raised in Xuzhou, China, I developed a deep passion for traditional Chinese garden design at an early age. This passion led me to focus my undergraduate thesis on the historical evolution of Chinese classical gardens. Eager to broaden my knowledge beyond traditional practices, I came to study in Australia, where I've had the opportunity to engage with international theories and methodologies in landscape architecture.

My academic experience at the University of Western Australia has greatly expanded my understanding of the broader impacts of landscape architecture. It has allowed me to connect theory with practice by applying concepts to real-world projects. I aspire to become a landscape architect who integrates Eastern and Western design philosophies, creating sustainable and culturally enriched landscapes. I am especially passionate about contributing to urban planning and environmental conservation through innovative design.

In my leisure time, I enjoy exploring new concepts in landscape design and actively participate in academic and social events to deepen my expertise and connect with like-minded professionals.
