Thank you to our 2024 annual Symposium speakers and guests
Last Wednesday 13th November the ANU Australian Studies Institute (AuSI) held our fifth annual Australia and the World Symposium, "Still Lucky? 60 years since Donald Horne's scathing critique."
The day was rewarding on multiple levels and it was wonderful to spend time during both the formal and informal parts of the program testing ideas and deepening our shared understandings.
It turns out, you can judge a book by its cover, as James Warden quipped.
As the host of the A&W series, AuSI was gratified by the high standard of papers, breadth of topics, and the analytical frames advanced. Feedback from attendees has also extremely positive.
As with previous symposia, we are considering the possibility of taking the accumulated expertise of the symposium to a broader audience in the form of an edited book, and have invited our speakers to consider submitting their papers for inclusion.
Shirley Leitch (Convenor) and Mark Kenny (Moderator), on behalf of the AuSI team, would like to thank all speakers for their constructive participation in the fifth annual Australia and the World Symposium.
